My first attempt at creme brulee :)

Last night Nicholas was craving something sweet, and since he already went through his allotment of ice cream for this shopping time period he thought he was out of luck. I remembered at that moment that I had seen a recipe on Sam the Cooking Guy for "fake brulee" which is basically a simplified version of the creme brulee that we all know and love from restaurants. His recipe is:

1 vanilla pudding snack pack (I used caramel cream cause I didn't have vanilla... still tasted great!)
1 tbsp sugar

That's it... yep... EASY!

All you do is empty the snack pack of pudding in a little corningware dish (the white circle or oval ones with ridges) and stick it in the fridge for an hour. Then you use a tablespoon of sugar ( I think I used too much, what can I say cause I am a sweet tooth). Sprinkle the sugar over the chilled dish and heat til all melty and a little brown I guess with a flame torch thing.

Nick liked it, and so did I. We both agreed it tasted pretty good for just pudding. And it costs a lot less (since a thing of creme brulee costs like 8 bucks in a restaurant). I will definately be making this to impress guests when they come over. Shhhh, don't tell em that its just vanilla pudding! :P

Here is my dish before (well, after 1 bite out of it) and after (about 2 minutes later ... YUM)

That's all for now!

The exploding Barbasol :)

So, on Sunday night right as Nick and I were drifting off to sleep we heard a loud audible "POP" coming from somewhere nearby. I made Nick go search in the living room to make sure the door was locked and that no one had broken in through the front window or was in the parking lot causing trouble. FYI: We live in a nice condo complex, but there are apartments behind us and to the left of us that could be considered "ghetto" or "risky/scary" places in town.

Anyway, I digress... the source of the pop was not found, so we went to sleep and forgot about it. The next morning I woke up and went to go put my contacts in in the bathroom and noticed that there was shaving cream ALL OVER THE BATHROOM COUNTER! The Barbasol can sitting next to the sink had randomly exploded and decided to leak out and make a huge mess. Nick cleaned it up while I was at work. Then, later on in the afternoon Nick went to go to the bathroom and the can of shaving cream had decided to start going at it again. At this time I grabbed my camera and took a few shots of it. I wrote the company (as Nick) to let them know it happened (I will attach the letter and response) and they emailed back THE NEXT DAY saying that they were extremely sorry and that it was rare and that we would be compensated. Way to go Barbasol customer service.

Here are some pictures of the mess:

And here is the video clip I took of it... ignore my stupid sounding voice

Tell me, has this ever happened to anyone else???? I thought it was weird for it to go off so randomly. It wasn't under any pressure or exposed to hot steam or water. It was sitting on a bathroom counter (It stays there) and it was the middle of the night, so it wasn't hot. Weird...

Things I hope I crave when I am pregnant....

So, I have been thinking about foods I love and have discovered that there are a few that stand out. I really hope that I crave these while I am pregnant that way I get to eat them all the time and don't eat a weird combination instead. What brought about this thought was hanging out with my pregnant friend (who thought that fruit salad with spicy sauce sounded good) and eating one of the things on my list. Follows is my short list, perhaps I will think of more things later.

Things I hope I want every day:

1. Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings
2. Mashed Potatoes
3. Creme Brulee
4. Mexican chili watermelon lollipops and "pelo ricon" candy
5. Peanut Butter M&Ms

Things I hope I don't crave:

1. Mayonnaise (WORST FOOD EVER)
2. Sushi (I love it but it is not safe to eat so I will have to be denied it, or stick to CA rolls)

Anyone have any stories of things you craved/hated while pregnant?

A different phone, yet again :)

I now have a different cell phone than the one I wrote about only a few months ago.

My slider phone was cool but it got absolutely horrible reception in my house because of the double insulation. My town in general didn't have the best. It was bad to the point that it wouldn't even ring, and I would get random voicemails from people who supposedly never called me (according to my phone). I called ATT and they sent me a replacement. Same deal; the phone didn't work at all. Then we went to an actual ATT store to see if it was the sim card, but no... not that either. So, another call to ATT was in order. This time when I called they told me that I would just receive another phone of the same make/model. I got frustrated, telling the lady that it wasn't the phone I had specifically, but the model. They said they couldn't do anything and that they would have to do the process 3 more times before I could get a different phone. At this point, I told them that it was pointless to do this, because I would just send them all back. They finally agreed to transfer me to a floor manager, and while on hold lo and behold... the phone dropped the call. Luckily they already had my number and just called me back. This little dropping of the call made my case so much stronger, and after 5 minutes of discussion on the phone with the manager she put me on hold to talk to her boss. She came back and happily informed me that I had 8 choices for the new phone. I picked the best option for me, and they even threw in a free car charger.

I chose an LG CU515 Plum colored phone. It's a dark purple so it is easy to spot and it has great reception overall. I love it!!! I guess it shows to fight for what you know is right and not give up if something is really wrong with something you have bought.

I recommend this to anyone having issues. If you argue for long enough (the whole process on that day was about 3 hours) you will get what you started out to obtain.
